There are three main ways to create a new page:
The best method is by editing another page which will link to the new page. That way the page is not "orphaned", IE: it has something pointing to it, a way that people can click to it from the Main Page on through.
- Edit the relevant existing page
- Create a link to the new page, inside wiki link bars: [[New Page Name]]
- Save the page.
- You can now see the new page name, but it is in red - this indicates the page doesn't exist yet. Click on it.
- Create the page and save it.
If it is a personal page
- Go to the Avacal Heralds' Order of Precedence page
- Find the name of the person for whom you are making the page.
- Click on the "Avacal Wiki Entry" link
- Note: you might want to double check in case there is already page for someone under a different name.
The last method, which allows you to create an orphan page (a page that is not linked to any other page in the wiki), is to use the Sandbox. You may want to intentionally create an orphan page because it will be linked from a Category page instead.
- Go to the Sandbox
- Edit the sandbox
- Create a link to the new page, inside wiki link bars: [[New Page Name]]
- SHOW PREVIEW the page.
- You can now see the new page name, but it is in red - this indicates the page doesn't exist yet. Click on it.
- Create the page and save it.
There is no need in that method to save the Sandbox - you're just tricking the Wiki into creating a link for you.
If you are creating a new page, please consider using one of the Templates. They are predesigned pages that you can add to your page to simply fill in the blanks. Click EDIT on the template then copy and paste what is in the editing section on your page. Do not make changes to the template, simply use the cancel link.
