Mistress Kataryna, OL is often found teaching classes or at the organization table for many of them - especially Quad War. Recently has been primary host and contact for the Outdoor Artisan Days that occurs the week after Quad War.
Within Avacal she is most known for being the Creator of the Avacal Bard's Book, available printed and online at http://avacal-bardic.katarynas.net/[1].
Within the SCA she is probably most known for her Compleat Anachronist Issue #169 10/2015 Decorated Eggs and Pysanky or her multiple posts on the science of Bast Fibers and their production on the various Flax to Linen or Nettles for Textiles groups... some of which can be found here: https://sites.google.com/site/suesscienceandhistory [2] or here: http://www.katarynas.net[3]

Interests
- Obsessed with the history of decorated eggs from anywhere. (Not the symbols but the processes used to make them)
- The hand processing of various Bast fibers (Flax, Hemp, and Nettle)
- The beginnings of Ukrainian culture during the SCA period (Ukraine-centric research compared to Russia-centric research)
- Music - English language music (celtic, period, folk tune collecting) & Byzantine music
- Storytelling and the role of stories and songs within the culture of the SCA. (Yes - I collect filk)
- Slavic and Eastern European Pottery... but it's been skewing towards Islamic recently.
- Making Kilns and Ovens
- While not a direct interest, I have a wealth of information on Ukrainian period clothing I've been collecting for the last 5 years, I'm slowly making it available to others as it's translated... but with all my other interests becoming a garb maven is doubtful.

Persona
She has two Personas:
For the winter she is a musician (flute player) from 16th century Lviv (1590's) and hopes to find a place in plays flute in the orchestra for the Polish court of Prince Władysław IV (The king of the time being Sigismund III). (at that time the area was ruled by Polish-Lithuania and was an area that is the start of the Cossack Hetmanates (early Ukraine)).
For the summer she is lady of wealth who runs her own farm near Kyiv in the 12th century and is known as a worker of Linen/Hempen fiber, avid vegetable gardener and grower of an orchard who produces pickles and sauerkraut, and sometimes makes baskets and pottery. (This is just after the disintegration of Kyivian Rus and the area has a bunch of names - Galicia-Volhynia, and Halych-Volyn being the most common)
