Part of the spiel heralds use in introducing tournament combatants to the Crown, Coronet, and populace. It means that the opponents agree to fight fairly and chivalrously. One example of honorable combat is when a fighter calls "HOLD!!!" because he notices that the sun is in his opponent's eyes--he asks the marshall to stop the fight so that the combatants may reposition themselves where one is not at such a distinct advantage, and begin fighting again.
