Merchant

A merchant is a vendor that sells goods (or services) at SCA events, typically from a tent or booth. In general, these goods are specifically of interest to those attending - items of kit, garb, feast gear, period specific history books, appropriate fabric, medieval or medievalish household goods, supplies for various society activities, and so on. Modern or other non-period items may also be for sale. Food merchants are also common, while the food may or may not be attempting to be period.

Some events may not have any merchants, others - especially Kingdom level events - tend to have a large Merchants' Row. Wandering merchants have also appeared. Demos often feature a wider range of non-SCA specific merchants, and many SCA merchants sell at non-SCA events.

There are requirements to merchanting at an event, which may involve a fee, donation, and normally includes making a reservation with the Event Steward or merchant-o-crat for the event.
