The SCA Canada Working Group is a Canadian-led initiative. Canada is a different legal jurisdiction from the US, and the group is investigating the SCA's compliance with Federal and Provincial requirements.

To do this work, Canadian representatives from the six Kingdoms with branches in Canada have been identified by their Crowns and Kingdom Seneschals. Over the next year, they will be consulting Canadian lawyers and other experts to answer guiding question: What is the best way for the SCA to operate in the Canadian jurisdiction? They are only looking at modern legal issues, not at the game side of the SCA for Canadian groups.

Once they have recommendations, a report will be given to the Kingdoms and the President of the SCA. Further steps will depend on the options open then.

Introduction to Avacal College of Heralds and how to get involved (1 hr)

Heraldry in Avacal has lots of things to be involved in. Voice heraldry includes introductions of combatants at tournaments, making announcements, doing courts for our royals. Administrative Heraldry includes Order of Precedent recording, helping with the website and databases, writing ceremonies and other protocols, helping update the manuals and handbooks, our submission role which is mostly administrative to help put the information into OSCAR (come learn what is). Consulting and Submissions help new and existing members find names, create household names and badges, develop and design devices or coats of arms and we need both people who like to draw and design things along with people who like to research and find stuff. Of course, heraldry has displays like banners, scrolls and other artistic things so we need artisans too. We are also working on accessibility and other activities to support DEIB. So many ways to get involved. Come find your way to help our kingdom and grow our college. Meet the team and ask questions.
